FAQs

Learn more about Tilt and Turn Windows

With the twist of a handle, our tilt and turn windows can be completely opened, perfect for those hot summer months. Or with a half-turn, the window can be restricted to a small airflow.

And because the windows open fully inwards, cleaning the exterior glass is easy. This makes tilt and turn windows perfect for use in high-rise apartments or for people who want to safely clean their own upstairs windows. They are also an extremely effective fire escape in case of emergency.

Simple and versatile, this popular windows style will enhance the look and value of any property. As with all EYG double glazing, our tilt and turn windows are fitted with energy-efficient A-rated glass as standard - the highest possible window energy rating. This means you will benefit from the best double glazing available, with up to 94 per cent of energy loss preventable.

Tilt and turn double glazed windows also reduce unwanted outside noise and give you added security. Approved by Secured By Design, you can even get them fitted with triple glazing for added noise reduction and heat retention.

In properties where there is restricted space or where outward opening windows would create a hazard, tilt and turn windows are the ideal solution. And because our highly-skilled EYG workforce can make bespoke tilting windows exactly to your specifications, you are guaranteed a perfect fit.

How do tilt and turn windows work?

Tilt and turn windows operate in two main ways: The tilt function allows the top of the sash to tilt open inwards for ventilation and the turn function is side hung and lets the window turn fully inwards. This offers a quick and easy way to allow fresh air to ventilate the room.

Is the tilt restrictor safe and secure?

Because of the way that the tilt restrictor has been positioned, tilt and turn windows cannot be opened by reaching in from the outside – even when on its most open setting. This means your home and family will be fully protected from unwanted intruders.

Will I get more draughts because of the way they open?

Although tilt and turn windows can be fully opened in different directions, the window remains air-tight when closed and will help to prevent draughts. Weather-proof seals also ensure they are highly energy efficient.

Jeff Metcalfe, February 2025

Third time I've used EYG and again delighted with the whole process. Today's fitting team arrived early and cracked on immediately, new door looks great! Two great lads, friendly and tidy. Very very pleased.

George Csapo, February 2025

We are very pleased with the work done and general professionalism of EYG and highly recommend the company. Thank you for a job well done.

Bob Shaw, February 2025

We chose EYG to supply our new front door by a recommendation from a friend. From start to finish they were fantastic. The door was installed by a very clean working team and is now so much better than our old plastic, leaky draughty one. We have no hesitation in recommending EYG to others.
