What did we do?
Having settled on the final design after a few consultations, our first task was to lift the pavers and clear the existing site so that extra depth foundations could be laid.
We project managed the entire build, moving a manhole and resolving drainage issues before completing the cosy base and suspended wooden floor to provide extra insulating properties.
The new floor had to be aligned with the house’s existing level, before a full-height rear brick wall and dwarf walls could be built to house the combination of modern UPVC casement windows.
With the homeowner wanting to flood the space with plenty of natural light, we used a combination of modern double glazing and a double-hipped Hybrid roof - with four glazed openings - to accomplish a light and airy feel.
By using French doors on one side of the pentagonal layout, it’s created a superb space to sit and relax, which brings the outside in by opening out onto the well-tendered garden.
Having used Activ roof glass to keep the interior cool in summer and warmer in winter, the homeowner can now use this lovely new room all year round.
