‘Dated’ Victorian conservatory pulled down and replaced with modern grey aluminium conservatory

A Hull couple have added enormous value to their home after pulling down their 21-year-old UPVC conservatory and relacing it with this eye-catching modern gable-end conservatory.

Michael Jackson, from Sutton, said the old existing conservatory was hoot hot or too cold, making it unusable for several months of the year.

Why did they choose this style of conservatory?

He opted for this breath-taking design as they really wanted something that would look fresh and contemporary, after becoming tired of his traditional-style Victorian design (pictured).

They chose to have full-length floor-to-ceiling glass to maximize the views of the garden, and wanted a solid tiled roof to make the conservatory more energy efficient – retaining warmth in the winter and not getting too hot in the summer months.

What did we do?

We knocked down the old conservatory and put new foundations in.

The couple chose an agate grey aluminium gable-end style conservatory, as they wanted a very modern look.

They also previously had a polycarbonate roof that was 21 years old, and was not energy efficient, so they opted for a solid tiled roof with composite Tapco grey tiles.

Mr Jackson said: “The roof keep the heat overnight, but doesn’t get too warm during the day either.”

What did they think of the finished result?

Mr Jackson said: “It is a lot better insulated than the original conservatory, and we get a much better view through the glass of the garden, as we don’t have the conservatory half-wall anymore.

“The final product is good, we are really pleased with it, it really does look good ad everyone who has seen it has been really impressed with it.”
