Spectacular orangery retreat

Christine Smith's beautiful home renovation involved removing her old conservatory and building a bespoke orangery in its place.

Why did they choose EYG?

  • Needed to remove old conservatory & revitalise home
  • Always been eager to create ‘extension’ on bungalow
  • Keen to make lounge area overlook garden
  • Wanted French doors to merge inside and outside space
  • Selected a Hybrid roof to create stunning focal point

What did we do?

Having removed and disposed of the old conservatory and its polycarbonate roof, our expert fitters laid new concrete foundations to extend the room’s footprint by 4sqm.

The solid brick orangery walls were the first construction task to complete, before fixing the frame of the uPVC windows and French doors in place.

After all electrics and TV sockets were installed, the impressive Hybrid roof was added to pave the way for our interior team to plaster and complete the contemporary finished look.

“Myself and my late husband always wanted an extension and felt an orangery offered all the same benefits as well as the extra light you get in a conservatory,” explained Christine.

“We wanted to move the main lounge area to the back of the house to enjoy looking out over the garden. Although he passed away a few months after it was complete, the orangery is a fitting tribute to his memory."

How long did it take?

  • This major redesign only took around seven weeks to complete, with time factored in to allow the foundations and brickwork to settle sufficiently.
  • Homeowner Christine added: “I use it all the time and love looking out through the roof day and night. I also open the double doors on to the garden in summer, which really brings the outside in.
  • "EYG were great to deal with and it’s a great investment.”
